COURSE ONE
This course provides participants with a detailed understanding of the key theoretical and political positions that have driven Australia’s trade policy since Federation. The course details the key policy tools successive Australian governments have employed in promoting Australia’s trade interests and explores how changes in international trade markets have impacted trade policy. The course describes the changing roles of Australia’s key federal trade agencies, DFAT, EFA and Austrade. Finally, participants will examine the current challenges facing Australia’s trade policy in response to the rise of China’s export and state-led growth strategy, the climate challenge, and recent trade and tariff actions from the Trump Administration.
